The NASA funded New Jersey Space Grant Consortium (NJSGC) was established
in 1991 with the mission of advanceing aerospace education, research and
technology initiatives in the state of New Jersey.
The NJSGC represents New Jersey in the NASA funded National Space Grant
Program (that consists of a representative from each of the 50 states,
the District of Columbia and the commonwealth of Puerto Rico).
One element of NJSGC plan to achieve its mission is to fund a limited
number of noteworthy projects involved with pre-college level upward bound
programs.
The intention of the NJSGC is to expose children, especially minority
and disadvantaged children, to the stimulus and excitement of aerospace
early in their education.Consideration for funding will be given to projects
related to math, science, or aerospace. It is anticipated that up to five
proposals will be funded.
Project Requirements
The project must be relevant to aerospace education.
The project must have a 2 to 1 matching for the funding requested from the consortium. The matching may be money or in kind support and can be from “for profit” organizations (such as, industry, etc.) as well as from “not-for-profit” organizations (university, school district, state of NJ, federal agencies, etc.). Involvement of NASA Center(s) or collaboration is recommended.
K through 12 students must be involved in the project.
Funding requested from the NJSGC must not exceed $3,000.
Project accomplishments must be documented in the form of a final report.
Awardee will present accomplishments at a NJSGC conference.
Proposal
The proposal (not to exceed a total of three pages or 1500 words) should contain the following sections:
Proposal must include an adequate description of the project and the grade level of students participating (500 words or more).
Deliverables to be provided.
Description of matching funds.
Budget: The requested period should be for 12 months and must use a four column (or more) format. Column 1 should show the funding requested from NJSGC/NASA (and this total should not exceed $3,000). The remaining columns should be used to show the appropriate contributions from organizations that will provide matching funds (using separate columns for funds from each of the "for profit" organiztions; such as, university, school district, State of New Jersey,
federal agencies, etc.). The last column should show the totals. All "in kind" matching funds must be identified. The budget request from NJSGC/NASA should not include fringe benefits or overhead costs.
Biographical sketch of the Principal Investigator (not to exceed one page).
